Katherine Stinson (1891-1977), learned to fly at the age of 21, and a year later, became an exhibition pilot.  Known as “The Flying Schoolgirl,” she was the first female aerobatics pilot.

Along with her sister, Marjorie Stinson (1896-1975), who was known as “The Flying School Marm, for teaching more than 100 people to fly, the Stinson sisters inspired their family to found the Stinson Aircraft Company.  During World War I, Katherine flew a Curtiss JN-4 “Jenny” on fund-raising tours around the country.
