In his plane the Winnie Mae, Post (1898-1935) was the first person to fly solo around the world, and was considered one of the most celebrated pilots in aviation history.

On June 23, 1931, he and Harold Gatty, a navigator, took off from Roosevelt Field Long Island, and eight days, 15 hours and 51 minutes later, touched down at Roosevelt Field after circling the globe.

In July 1933, he equipped his plane with a robot pilot and flew solo around the globe in seven days, 18 hours and 49 minutes.
